Ember Rays is a small hobby kennel located in Social Circle, Georgia. We pride ourselves in raising quality Fox Red and Yellow labs from championship bloodlines suitable for the show ring or the field. With a low-key temperament, they are a joy to train. Our dogs are first and foremost our pets and a part of our family.
"Fox Red" is a shade of yellow. All AKC Fox Red Labradors are registered as yellow. The dark yellow or fox red was the original color of what is now the yellow shade. They were originally called Golden, until it was argued that "gold" was not a color, when they became recognized as yellow. The first yellow ever recorded was Ben of Hyde in 1899 and he was a Fox Red. Now, yellow has a range from white to fox red and everything in between.
Quite simply, we feel we have some of the best available. Our Fox Red Labrador puppy is bred to conform to the AKC standard. They are beautiful dogs with blocky heads and good bone structure. They can be used in the field or show ring and return home to be some of the most well-behaved indoor companions.
I was born and raised in a one light town called Walnut Grove about 30 minutes east of Atlanta I was blessed to have lived next door to my grandparents. This is where my love of dogs and the outdoors began. At an early age, I would help my grandfather work in his kennels. He was known throughout the southeast for breeding and training some of the best field trial beagles around. He had countless blue ribbons and trophies to show for it!
In 2002 I met my beautiful wife, Jocelyn. We have been truly blessed with three beautiful children, Alexa, Jase and Lacey.
Our property is just shy of nine acres and is nestled beautifully on Hard Labor Creek Reservoir. This is where our dreams have really become a reality! With the deer, turkeys and majestic lake, we couldn't have handpicked a better place to raise our family. As you can imagine, our dogs love to cover the property chasing each other and playing fetch. When the girls are in season, they are housed in our roomy indoor/outdoor kennels with 8'x15' stalls.
